Utility Service , Billing & Payments
The Malden Board of Public Works (BPW) is a city-owned utility providing the City with electric, water and wastewater services. In addition to calculating the bills and accepting payments we can also assist you with questions about your bill and request for utility connections or disconnections. We service approximately 2,300 residential and business customers.

The BPW Board consists of four members. The Board is responsible for establishing BPW policies, rules and regulations that govern the day to day operations of the utility system. The Board of Public Works meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 5:00PM at the BPW office located at 111 E. Laclede Street.

The BPW is a proud member of the American Public Power Association (APPA) and the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA).
Applying for Utilities
Before utilities can be connected, a deposit must be paid and a Utility Application must be completed. Renters are required to show a copy of their lease agreement for rental property. Homeowners must submit the front page of either their abstract or deed. Every person applying for utilities must present proof of identification such as a driver’s license and must be at least 18 years of age.

Prior to completing an application, the customer will be directed to City Hall where they will verify that all personal and real estate taxes have been paid.  An inspection time will be set and, after approved inspection, services will be connected.
Billing
Utility bills are mailed on or before the 25th of every month. Utility customers should contact the BPW immediately if they do not receive a bill as scheduled. Utility bills are due by the 10th of each month; a 5% late fee is assessed on any balance not paid by the 10th of the month.
