The Malden Police Department consists of 18 commissioned and non-commissioned employees. The agency is responsible for investigating all crimes that occur within the City of Malden as well as answering calls for service that may or may not be of a criminal nature.

The Malden Police Department has 24-hour coverage and has four platoons that cover the shifts. Each shift has one sergeant that is the shift supervisor. He/she supervisors at least two other officers on that shift. The agency has a corporal that is a Field Training Officer and a backup shift supervisor. There are nine other officers assigned to the Patrol Division, in which two of those officers are designated

Senior Patrol Officers. The agency also has one sergeant who is employed by the Malden R-1 School District and serves as the School Resource Officer as well as a D.A.R.E. instructor. The Communications Division has a corporal that supervises four operators assigned to this division. The agency answers all 911 calls for the City of Malden and serves as a 911 backup for Dunklin County. This division also operates a M.U.L.E.S. terminal.

The Malden Police Department has a Humane Officer who handles all code violations in regard to animals and maintains animal registration within the City of Malden.
