The electric supplier to the City of Malden is SWPA that has a record of being close to 100% reliable. In addition, Malden owns a generating system for emergencies. For anyone locating in Malden, please contact the Board of Public Works at 573-276-2238 for information about installation of service lines and transformers for the electrical service and for current rates.

In 1998 the Board of Public Works installed a "loop line" designed to feed the entire City of Malden, which includes the Malden Airport/Industrial Park, with electric from two completely separate service lines. Also, automatic switches were installed to provide two separate feeds from our SWPA source or the power plant immediately in the event of a power outage from the first source.
