Malden Missouri

Multi-Modal Transportation

A. AVIATION -- Malden is fortunate in having one of the largest general aviation airport in the State of Missouri. Malden is listed in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS), which indentifies airports that are significant to national transportation. Malden's 5010 FAA Site Inspection Report can be viewed here.

The Malden Regional Airport was an Air Force Base from 1942 to 1960, as operated by the military and then under civilian contracts. Malden Army Airfield Preservation Society (MAAPS) is an organization that works to preserve the past of the Malden Army Airfield. The MAAPS Military Museum is located in the airport's terminal building and MAAPS also maintains a Veterans Wall of Honor.

We have two 5,000 foot lighted runways, which can accommodate most aircraft.  Malden has a Meteorlogix weather station in the pilots lounge that provides instant, unlimited access to regional and national weather data. Malden also has an Automated Weather Observation System 119.825(AWOS) which was installed in 2002. Airfield Directional Signage was added in 2005 as a safety feature for pilots.

The Malden Airport is utilized by Corporations from even larger towns in our area as our runways can handle most corporate aircraft.  Executives would have the advantage of flying directly into Malden and not have a  long commute from a distant airport.

NEW FBO - FIRST FLIGHT (573-276-2123) offers aircraft mechanics, flight instructions, charts, courtesy car, and is an FAA Written Exam Station. JET FUEL is now available with full service and Aviation fuel (100LL) is available on a 24-hour basis from an automated credit card pumping station ( Fuelmaster).

Commuter airlines are available within an one-hour drive at Jonesboro, Arkansas or Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Major airlines are available with a two-hour drive to Memphis, Tennessee or within a three-hour drive to St. Louis, Missouri.

The Malden Regional Airport is also home to the Bootheel Composite Squardron of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) as formed in 2006. For more information and to find out how to join the CAP, Capt. Tommy Shepard can be contacted at 573-276-7707, 573-276-3440 or by email.

Please feel free to contact the Malden Regional Airport (573-276-2279 or malden@maldenmo.com) at anytime for more information or to discuss possible hanger rentals.
